Paralegal – Personal Injury / Medical Malpractice

Lacy Katzen’s Personal Injury / Medical Malpractice group is a plaintiff-focused practice dedicated to fighting for injured clients against insurance companies and corporate defendants. We are a close-knit, high-energy team that takes pride in achieving meaningful results for the people we represent. We are looking for a seasoned paralegal who shares that commitment.

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Personal Injury / Medical Malpractice Litigation Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of litigation procedures, medical terminology, and complex case management. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, genuinely enjoy working with people who are going through difficult times, and bring exceptional client service and attention to detail, we want to hear from you.

What you’ll do:

  • Screen new matters
  • Manage plaintiff personal injury and medical malpractice cases from intake through settlement or trial including deadlines, scheduling, discovery and court filings
  • Draft and prepare legal documents including:

    • Bills of Particulars
    • Discovery demands and responses
    • Basic motions and motion support
    • Authorizations and subpoenas
    • Trial exhibits and trial binders
  • Gather and organize medical records, billing records, lien information and expert materials
  • Coordinate with clients, medical providers, experts, and opposing counsel
  • Track litigation deadlines, court appearances, depositions, and compliance conferences
  • Schedule depositions
  • Assist attorneys with expert exchanges, mediation submissions, and trial preparation
  • File documents electronically through NYSCEF and maintain accurate electronic and physical case files
  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status and document collection

What we are looking for

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in New York plaintiff personal injury and/or medical malpractice litigation
  • Strong knowledge of New York State filing requirements
  • Experience and familiarity with NYSCEF
  • Proficiency in reviewing and organizing medical records
  • Excellent drafting, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine ability to connect with clients who are often stressed, injured, or grieving
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and able to manage competing priorities without close supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software

Why Join Us

  • Direct, meaningful client relationships.
  • Work alongside experienced trial attorneys on complex, high-value cases
  • Collaborative team culture
