David Murphy
OF COUNSEL
David is currently retired from active practice. He has over 40 years of experience working in plaintiff’s personal injury cases, concentrating on medical malpractice and nursing home negligence. He is experienced in commercial litigation representing both plaintiffs and defendants, and also criminal and vehicle and traffic law matters. In addition, David is a former Monroe County Assistant District Attorney, Rochester City Court Small Claims Court judge, and private mediator and arbitrator.
David obtained numerous seven-figure verdicts and settlements in complex medical malpractice, personal injury and commercial cases, with approximately 200 successful jury and non-jury verdicts in civil, criminal and vehicle and traffic trials.

ABOUT David Murphy
David enjoys spending time with his wife, three children and six grandchildren. He loves to cook and is a single digit handicap golfer. David joined Lacy Katzen in 2021 in an “of counsel” role to mentor young lawyers, and to provide guidance and collaboration on complex matters.
